FOLLOWING this morning's heavy rain and winds, the Met Office has warned the Isle of Wight can expect to be battered by more bad weather this week.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for very strong winds, with gusts of up to 80mph in places and heavy rain expected during Wednesday night (17), from 9pm, and into Thursday afternoon (18).

Forecasters are warning that injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible, along with some damage to buildings.

In addition, large waves could see beach material being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties.

Disruption to cross-Solent travel is also expected.
