MAY I take issue with your article entitled 'Parking plan finds friends'? I can assure you that not every resident in Victoria Road is happy with George Savva's proposals for en-bloc off-street parking and traffic calming.

o Despite planning officers' recommendation to refuse permission for cross-overs on grounds of safety, Cllr Savva has asked for it to be deferred yet again, saying "We have to listen to residents". Well I am a resident and I have made my objections clear since day one but Cllr Savva doesn't want to listen.

o It is clearly unsafe to have vehicles crossing over the footpath and backing out into a road as busy as ours. Contrary to Cllr Savva's assertion, commuters using Silver Street or Edmonton Green station, do not park in this part of Victoria Road because they are too far from either station.

The only time parking becomes congested outside our terrace is when Tottenham is playing at home. There is no reason why parked cars should be damaged by passing traffic as our stretch of road is very wide with very little parking on the east side parallel with Pymmes Park. As for traffic calming, we already have overkill of speed humps at the north end of Victoria Road which has the effect of diverting traffic into more densely residential areas to the east where more school children walk and cycle to school. I cannot see that the emergency services could cope with any with humps and the two mini-roundabouts at either end of our section of road are effective in slowing down traffic.

o Lastly, there are many pedestrians using our side of Victoria Road -- commuters from Victoria Road and Pyecroft Way walking to and from Silver Street, customers from nearby Pymmes Park Inn, and many families visiting the park.

The danger of vehicle cross-overs to these pedestrians is obvious. So please, Cllr Saava, if you must put in off-street parking, go and look at Carlton Terrace where it is really needed.
