THE Island Speedway team have said they are heartbroken after a number of buildings at Smallbrook Stadium were broken into yesterday (Friday).
The intruders stole communication equipment, keys and other vital organisational equipment, a spokesperson for Island Speedway said.
The track shop, headquarters building and referee box were all broken into, according to posts on Twitter from the official Island Speedway account.
A Smallbrook Stadium spokesperson said that the door to the track shop, which was empty for refurbishment, was ripped off and the cricket club was also broken into.
"Sad news all round really," said the Smallbrook stadium spokesperson on Facebook, "Mindless vandalism.
"It is in the police's hands now though and we are hopeful the CCTV systems will show us some faces."
