MP Love leads calls for homes
TUESDAY MAY 23. EDMONTON MP Andy Love is leading calls from 40 MPs for more investment in housing.
In an Early Day Motion at the House of Commons last week, Mr Love urged the Government to put more money behind its commitment to making housing more affordable and to tackle the £19m backlog of council house repairs, as laid out in the Government's Housing Green Paper.
Mr Love said: 'In the Green Paper the Government is committed to see a decent home for all. The only way to achieve that is to find extra resources for investment in existing housing and in new accommodation.'
Mr Love now plans to meet Nick Raynsford, the Minister for Housing, to discuss the issue.
'I will be pressing the Minister hard to put housing at the top of the agenda so we can begin to meet the urgent need for more decent, affordable housing,' he added.
