More heavy rain for Island

By a County Press reporter

Monday, December 31, 2012

A WARNING for heavy rain for the Isle of Wight has been issued by the Met Office for today (Monday).

The yellow 'be aware' warning is in force until 6pm tonight.

The Met Office said: "A spell of rain, heavy in places, will move east across England and Wales during Monday, with the most persistent heavy rain likely to affect areas of high ground in western parts exposed to the very strong southwesterly winds. The main area of rain will clear eastwards from these areas during the afternoon."

"The public should be aware of possible disruption, particularly to travel, and also of the potential for localised flooding."
