SUPPORTING pubs on the Island is vital to society and greater measures need to be taken to support them, said Isle of Wight MP and real ale drinker, Bob Seely.
Mr Seely can occasionally be seen pulling a pint at the popular Chillerton Pop-Up pub, held four times a year.
In the latest edition of Wightwash magazine, produced by the IW branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), he voiced his support for the local beer industry and is keen to support the aims of CAMRA.
"I believe pubs are vital for the good of our society," he said.
"I prefer independent pubs over chains but recognise we need both for a healthy industry.
"I'd like to see more measures taken to support pubs, including lowering prices for ales and beers bought in pubs - especially those local to the pub - to make it more attractive to drink local beers socially in pubs.
"The growth of small, independent breweries is a good thing."
Mr Seely suggested to IW CAMRA holding a 'surgery' for its members on a Friday evening - preferably at a CAMRA-approved pub.
