AIRCRAFT company Britten Norman has signed a $6million deal to supply two aircraft to a new customer.
The deal was signed at the Farnborough International Air Show with a customer based in the Asia Pacific region, the company said in a statement today (Tuesday).
The company will supply two Islander aircraft, powered by Rolls Royce turbine engines.
Parts for the planes will be produced at the company's Bembridge operation, however the planes will be assembled and fitted-out at Lee-on-Solent, due to the lack of access to the airfield at Bembridge following a dispute with the landowner.
After test flights the planes will be disassembled and shipped to the customer.
Business development manager Lara Harrison said the deal could mean new job opportunities in the future, although initially no new jobs will be created.
