By Ross Findon - Wednesday, July 1, 2009

NEW leads in the search for a missing teenager are being investigated and his mother has issued a heartfelt appeal for him to get in touch.
Concern has mounted for missing 17-year-old Luke Jeremy Cowan, who was last seen by his family on Tuesday, June 16.
His wallet was recently discovered in Somerfield supermarket, Sandown, and officers are investigating CCTV footage from shops and buses.
Detectives are also investigating more reports of unconfirmed sightings.
Det Con Nick Heelan, of Newport CID, said: "We believe Luke is still on the Island and I’m making a fresh appeal for him to contact the police directly to confirm he is safe and well."
He added: "I would like to thank the public, the media and especially Southern Vectis for their time and invaluable assistance with inquiries."
The last confirmed sighting of Luke was shortly after 3pm on June 16, when he was seen getting off a bus in Sandown High Street, between the junctions of Avenue Road and Albert Road.
He has been described as white, six ft two ins tall, with short dark hair, blue eyes, freckles and of broad build.
His mother, Michelle Knight, said: "The whole family is worried about Luke and we are desperate just to know he is safe and well.
"We all love him and will support him, no matter what happens. There is no need for him to feel frightened about making contact with his family or the police."
Luke, or anyone with information about his whereabouts, can contact Newport Police Station on 0845 045 45 45.
