A disappointed Geoff Chapple had both blame and praise for his defeated troops after Ryman League Premier Division leaders Dagenham and Redbridge won 2-0 at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.

"We seem to be trying to do things the hard way at the moment. We were two down at half time, two bad goals again from our point of view but we certainly tried in the second half. I can't fault the team's commitment.

"However, we didn't really hold the ball up and though we got some chances we just couldn't get the ball in the net. Their keeper made some great saves. We seemed to lack ideas in the first half but I felt a bit sorry for our players in the second half when the ball just wouldn't go in for them. It wasn't our best performance though and I felt we could have directed our efforts at goal better.

"You must take your chances. We didn't and we also gave away sloppy goals. Some little things annoyed me. Either some players were not listening to instructions or they decided to go off and do their own thing. Everyone tried of course and we have a great dressing room atmosphere but there were some strong words said after the game.

" We may revert to the deeper defence we had at the start of the season and it may be necessary to bring in a new player sooner rather than later and someone may have to step aside. I have to work to my budget. I will be looking to make some changes for Saturday's trip to Enfield, though nothing too drastic. Tuesday's training session went exceptionally well. Wayne Brown's injury is coming along well and he could be back in the squad soon but David Leworthy's knee problem won't go away and he will be having a scan this week."

Ks are back at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday when former crowd-favourite David Kempton brings Combined Counties League Chessington and Hook down for a Surrey Senior Cup tie.
