TENNIS.

Former Wimbledon champion Boris Becker has been the first top tennis name to confirm he will be playing at Surbiton in June.

For the second year running the Surbiton Tennis, Squash and Fitness Club in Berrylands is hosting the Surrey Grass Court Championships in the first week of June.

The first grass championship in the season, the Surrey tournament ranks only behind Wimbledon and Queen's in importance, and many top players make sure they join in to get some vital grass practice in time for Wimbledon.

Both the men's and ladies events are part of their respective world circuits which offer ATP and WTA world ranking points respectively.

Total prize money for the mens is $50,000 and the ladies $25,000.

Exhibition matches are scheduled during the latter part of the week (Friday, June 5, to Sunday, June 7) with invitations made to players during the French Open.

Booking is now possible for anyone wanting to take advantage of the chance to see top class international tennis in Surbiton.

For telephone credit card bookings and reservations 181 390 2243 10am to 5pm. And keep reading your Surrey Comet for a chance to win some free tickets and other top prizes in the coming weeks.
