VOLUNTEERS from Island Roads have helped to preserve an iconic Isle of Wight site.
Four staff from the company spent a day volunteering at the National Trust’s Needles Old Battery site.
It was part of a scheme by Island Roads that encourages staff to spend two days a *year volunteering for Isle of Wight causes.
Scott King, of the National Trust, said the volunteers’ contribution to the winter maintenance schedule had made an enormous impact on their conservation efforts at the site.
"Those who care about our special place, those who have loved it previously, and those who are yet to enjoy it will benefit from their commitment. Thanks to Island Roads, we had great fun with an enthusiastic team who we hope will continue to support the work we do," he said.
Alex Tunnicliffe, Island Roads facilities coordinator, said: "It’s a spectacular location and we were able to have a look around areas that wouldn’t normally see."
