AN Isle of Wight self-catering cottage was highly commended in last night's (Monday) Visit England Awards for Excellence 2014.

Nettlecombe Farm at Whitwell's Corner Cottage was rewarded in the self-catering holiday provider of the year category.

It was up against four other self-catering units from around England in the ceremony at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The award was accepted by Amy Shepherdly, daughter of owner Jose Morris.

Earlier this year, Corner Cottage won gold at the regional Tourism South East Beautiful South Awards.

Nettlecombe, a working farm which has been in the Morris family for 100 years, offers fishing, yoga retreats and function barn hire.
