BUSINESS NEWSTHERE will soon be visible signs of the £2.5 million investment into the future of radar on the Island.

Work is due to start in a matter of days at the Maritime Services facility in Cowes, which was formerly BAE Systems.

The programme will see removal of old, unused buildings, including demolition of Block 21, which contains an unused engineering lab. New, modern, facilities will then be built. Executive assistant, Wendy Porter, who has worked on the Cowes site for 21 years and lives on the Island, said of the revamp: "It is great news — good to know the company is investing on the Island at their Cowes site.

"This will benefit the staff with a better, brighter, working environment and it also gives us a state-of-the-art customer area with larger conference facilities for visitors."
