MANY of your readers must be thoroughly fed up with people who will not clean up after their dogs but do they know there is now actually something they can do to have action taken against them?

The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act, 1996 allows local authorities to issue on the spot fines to those not cleaning up. If the fine is not paid within a specified time, they are prosecuted for failing to clean up after their dog. The public must start lobbying their local authority for the implementation and enforcement of this much-needed Act.

They could also form a dog watch and report offenders to the council or local dog/park warden. I would like the public to unite with those like myself, who are PSAs (Poop Scoop Ambassadors) to try and achieve a cleaner environment for everyone.
