New managing director of Isle of Wight bus company Southern Vectis, Matt Kitchin.
A NEW general manager has been appointed by Isle of Wight bus company Southern Vecis.
Matt Kitchin was most recently general manager for First bus services in Hampshire and Dorset, having joined the company in 2002 as a graduate trainee.
Andrew Wickham, managing director for Go Ahead Group — which owns Southern Vectis — said: "With Matt on board we will be able to continue to focus on providing a first class service as the group invests to improve the bus fleet, services and facilities."
Matt Kitchin said: "Southern Vectis has a tradition of innovation. I look forward to working with the team to enhance the operation and the company’s reputation."

That's an interesting comment Ann! I could have sworn that buses were actually fitted with doors, 'stop' buttons and that the Island had a liberal smattering of novelty statues known as 'bus stops'. Or were you unaware that to allow the driver of a bus to facilitate alighting you have to press the little red 'stop' button situated on poles within the bus?

Let us hope that things will improve and buses will stop at bus stops for passengers to alight, unlike the present situation!
