New eco industry regatta for the Island

AN ECO industry regatta will put wind in the sails of a new events company, recently launched on the Isle of Wight.

The Cowes-based Island Events Company, which specialises in activities, conference and team building packages, is working with Ecoisland, to launch the new regatta aimed at the green industry.

The one-day Eco Industry Regatta, taking place on June 20, will bring together companies working within the industry for a day’s racing followed by an evening event at a Cowes yacht club.

The regatta will also raise money for charity with the event’s overall winner choosing which eco charity they would like to receive the funds.

Mary Scott-Jackson, one of the Island Events Company directors said: "The Isle of Wight is a unique location with stunning scenery and an amazing choice of activities and top class hotels.

"We hope to encourage more companies and individuals to choose the Isle of Wight to hold their event so they can experience for themselves all the Island has to offer."

David Green, Ecoisland Partnership chief executive, said: "Ecoisland is delighted to support the Eco Industry Regatta.

"A yacht on an ocean passage is a perfect example of an ecosystem as there is a need to manage your energy, food, water, fuel and waste. We hope that the event will raise the profile of sustainability as a principle."

Don, The Footprint Trust has been going for years, and done all kinds of really good conservation work as well as energy related stuff. Don't tar them with Eco-Island's mistakes, as they are one of the good guys

tony,
"where does he think all the untreated sewage goes"
He recycles it at his "talks".
Or maybe he has a "team" who collect it as they go.

Isle of Man last week attracted about 60 people if you look at the photos.
The Tedx at Southampton was held in a room which held a max. 270.
What creases me is that nobody involved with this "event" actually works for a living.
IEC does "Conference & team building packages" So does the Army.
Rayban has NEVER worked (other than for charridies).
And the main beneficiary is an "eco charridy".
Why?
"cos they don't support anything which doesn't have the "eco" prefix.

Hmmn, now let me think, tony.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Footprint Trust? F.o.E. (a most appropriate acronym).

Wonder if he will be addressing a captive audience of 200 in the evening telling them how he is going to make the IOW totally energy sustainable by 2020?

Good old Ray Ban, we should all follow the example of the yachtsmen to raise the profile of sustainability as a principle. hang on a moment, as only a miniscule number of yachts and power boats in uk waters have waste holding tanks fitted and there are a very limited number of pump out stations where does he think all the untreated sewage goes? Power boats are also very eco friendly, the big ones only burn a gallon or so a mile to transport a couple of people from one marina to another.
