ABLE Connections, the company behind the drive for a fixed link from the Isle of Wight to the mainland, has released images of the proposed cross-Solent tunnel - meanwhile a new suggested location has been put forward.
The computer generated artist's impression shows the entrance way to the tunnel, which would be positioned near Whippingham, with a slip road near the crematorium roundabout.
It was previously suggest the tunnel could have an entrance at Arreton.
Carl Feeney, a director of Able Connections and the chair of the Pro-Link campaign group, said: "This is a really good artist's impression. It is a culmination of what we have learnt through research.
"This is the most obvious type of design to use."
The arches leading up to the tunnel are designed to suppress noise and visually obscure the road.
Students at Southampton Solent University are doing a project looking at the environmental impacts of the proposed tunnel, led by Dr Laurie Wright, a lecturer in the School of Maritime Science and Engineering.
