THE new floating bridge is on its way to the Isle of Wight.

The £3 million bridge, built by Welsh firm Mainstay Marine, should arrive in East Cowes on Saturday at 11am.

Those wishing to watch it come in have been advised by the Isle of Wight Council to head to East Cowes Esplanade.

The public have been asked to give the bridge a more interesting name than floating bridge 6, and as previously reported, Floatie McFloatface is back in the running.

The floating bridge service should start on May 6.
