THE Isle of Wight’s new High Sheriff was officially appointed by the Queen during an ancient ceremony at Buckingham Palace, on Wednesday.
Last November, award-winning beekeeper and a founder member of the Isle of Wight Farmers’ Market, Mary Case, of Limerstone, was nominated at London’s High Court to take her place in history as one of the latest incumbents of the oldest secular office in Britain, which pre-dates the Norman Conquest.
She will take office on April 8, following in the footsteps of current Isle of Wight High Sheriff, Nick Hayward.
