Bexley Swimming Club is now halfway through this year's Kent County Championships, having performed magnificently so far by winning 65 medals, comprising of 27 golds, 16 Silver and 22 Bronze, leaving us on track to break last year's record medal haul.

The role of honour is as follows: Jade Barclay, five golds and four event-best performances in the 13- year girls' group for 400m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley;

Christopher Scott three golds and one event performance in the 16-year boys' 50m backstroke; Matthew Shead, three golds and one event best performance for the 13- year boys' 200m breaststroke; Darren Chappell one gold and one event-best performance in the men's 400m freestyle; Jack Legon, one gold and one event best performance in the 12-year boys' 200m freestyle.

Other gold medals so far have been achieved by Rachel Heselden, four, Kety Howes and Richard James three each, and one by Adele Howard, Ryan Carver, Robert Shead and Robert Sounders.

Silver medal: Christopher Scott five, Matthew Shead three, Jade Barclay, Chloe Ross and Darren Chappell two apiece, plus one by Rachel Hesleden and Jenny Cusselle.

Bronze medals: Chloe Ross and Kelsey McCue both three, Josh Snow Christopher Scott, Ryan Carver and Katy Howes, all two, while Darren Chappell, Owen Woodland, Matthew Shead, Jack Legon, Alex Augustine, Rachel Heselden, Nicola Brand and Jenny Cusselle, who all won one medal each.

As well as the medal haul, all swimmers who have taken part so for have achieved 80 personal best times.

The club is now looking forward to the relay events at Crystal Palace next weekend, where Bexley will be represented in every age group.

Meanwhile, although heavily involved in the Kent Championships, the club was still able to field a team for the Marjorie Fountain Rose Bowl Gala, held in Dartford, last Saturday.

Individual wins came from: 10-year girls Paige Dummer and Keighley Shaw; 12-year girls Sinead Brand, Jodie Cousins and Francesca Sacre; 16-year girls Ellie Dummer and Adele Howard; 12-year boys Michael Barton; 14-year boys Richard Mole and Daniel Kennedy, plus 16-year boys Alex Augustine and Robert Sounders.

Relay wins were recorded by the 10 and 12-year girls' year freestyle and medley squads; 12-year boys freestyle; 16-year girls' freestyle and the boy's medley, plus the girl's squadron medley.

Bexley were overall winners by more than 20 points.
