Boreham Wood FC 2000 U11s got the new season off to a flying start with a 3-2 victory over Harpenden Sharks at the weekend.
Harpenden took an early lead against the run of play, but, moments later, Boreham Wood equalised when William Corbet ably converting a brilliant corner from Grant Fryer.
Boreham Wood made it 2-1 when Lewis Pelling rose above a packed penalty box to head home at the far post. Just before the break, Wood's Grant Fryer further extended his side's lead with a tasty strike.
The second half saw Boreham Wood in command but unable to net that elusive fourth goal. Late on, they were caught out by a consolation goal from Harpenden.
Boreham Wood FC 2000's U10s started their season with a bang, thrashing Harvesters South 6-0 in the first round group stages of the BFL League Cup.
A screamer of a shot from Jack Tidd opened Wood's account. This was followed by two strikes from Matt Whichelow.
After the break, dominant Wood increased their tally, first through two goals from Whichelow, then man-of-the-match George Saunders netted with a high quality strike.
The U10s manager, John Jennings, said: "I am very pleased with the performance and the passing game."
Boreham Wood FC 2000's U13s demolished Hemel Aces 11-0 at the weekend in the BFL League Cup.
Wood's goals came from a Boyle hat-trick, two apiece from Davies, O'Malley and Russell. A goal each from Willis and Martin completed the rout.
