SWIMMERS across the area are being asked to take the plunge for needy children in BT Swimathon 99.

Participants ask friends and relatives to sponsor them and the top fundraisers have the chance to win a holiday at the La Manga Club resort in Spain.

The NSPCC and its Scottish sister charity Children 1st will receive 70 per cent of the funds raised across the country.

Since BT Swimathon started 13 years ago, more than 300,000 people have raised £12m for 27 national charities. To find out more call Freefone 0800 731 7316.
