Cranleigh 128 for 8

Chessington 150 all out

After last week's frustration at losing another game, to the weather, Chessington travelled to Cranleigh knowing that they had to win to keep in touch with leaders Purley.

Cranleigh won the toss and Chessington were asked to bat. The visitors seem out of sorts with the bat at present and only a defiant 65 from Mark Walter helped Chessington's total limp to 150 all out.

However, Chessington are always confident of bowling sides out and opened with spinners Hutchinson and Yarnley on very dry wicket. Cranleigh found Hutchinson's left arm bowling difficult to play and his six wickets gave Chessington every hope.

Nick Bailey ran in hard with his usual aggression to pick up a couple of wickets in his five overs but time ran out and Cranleigh secured the winning draw 22 runs behind with only two wickets left.

Sadly, the championship now looks out of reach for Chessington as Purley won again to go 34 points ahead with only four games left.

Chessington III 170 for 5, Old Dorkinians 187 for 8

Illsley made an early breakthrough for Chessington in a fiery opening spell but the visitors reached 90 with further loss, Chessington's youngsters then came to the rescue.

A Mirza bowled superbly to take 3-32, well supported by the pace of Johnson and the guile of Matkin. Chessington started slowly against an accurate attack and Ian Moore was out just as he got into full flow.

The game seemed to be petering out to a tame draw when skipper Martin's vintage stroke play and a ferocious assault by Masters (35 in 19 mins), put Chessington in with a chance, Collins finally cast off his shackles but time ran out with the home side 18 runs short having faced 12 fewer overs.
