Harrow's ladies played Welwyn away at the weekend in the last 32 of the All England Plate competition and saw the team who play two divisions higher off with a 1-0 victory.

The first half saw Welwyn dominate the game, but they were unable to convert a series of short corners.

Harrow strength in defence held well with keeper Julie Fielder only needing to make a couple of saves.

Harrow stepped up the pace towards the end of the half and saw an aerial shot by captain Penny O'Mahoney saved well by the Welwyn keeper.

Harrow went on to take control in the second half and put several good attacks together, troubling the Welwyn defence.

A free hit outside the circle taken by Kerri Lendon brought a superb goal from midfielder Simone Burns who picked up Lendon's hit and deflected it into the goal.

Harrow had to hold out for the last 10 minutes, bravely defending one short corner after the another, but with Welwyn unable to convert, Harrow kept their lead until the welcome sound of the final whistle.

Harrow are now in the last 16 of the competition.
