No wind? No worries — Cowes Week sailors cope with disappointing conditions

WHEN racing stopped due to a lack of wind yesterday (Thursday), these Cowes Week sailors found an alternative way to get around.

The two yachtsmen, aboard Aspiration, a 35 foot J/109, used hatches from the boat as makeshift wakeboards.

One Cowes Week onlooker said: "I couldn't believe what we were seeing. They managed to get up a fair bit of speed."

Another sailor, on board Muskox, found a different way to deal with the lack of wind - by jumping in the water and attempting to tow the boat while swimming.

Today's racing has also been abandoned due to a lack of wind, however the fireworks and aerial displays are due to go ahead planned.

The final day of racing is due to take place tomorrow, when better sailing conditions have been forecast.
