Rising rapidly from support act, The Bertie Smalls Confession are now headlining a funk rock night at The Cartoon on Thursday, February 21.

This band now has a strong following as they play gigs across London. The four members, all in their early 20's, are all local lads. The line-up - James Chegwidden, guitar; Dan Stubberfield, bass guitar, Joe Edwards, drums and Scott McFarnon, lead vocals - have been together almost a year.

Their music style hints at raw, early Red Hot Chilli Peppers, crossed with a big Reef-style vocal. They describe their music as "the kind of stuff that gets feet tapping and heads banging."

The numbers vary in tone from Go The Other Way written about their hate for politicians, while another, Helen Daniels, is sung in homage to the old soap star from Neighbours. Expect a few unusual covers too.

Tickets for Bertie Smalls Confession at The Cartoon, London Road, Croydon are £3. Support starts at 8pm.
