Surrey's business community is to be consulted over plans to merge the county's three main advisory groups into one body.

The new company would be called Surrey Chambers of Commerce Training and Enterprise.

The groups involved are Surrey Training and Enterprise Council, Business Link Surrey and Surrey Chambers of Commerce.

The chairman of the Merger Advisory Board, Charlie King, said: "We want to become more customer-focused and responsive to the needs of the county. The first step towards achieving this is to ask."

The consultations will take place from January to March 1999 with a public meeting held on Thursday, February 18, at 6pm at Epsom Downs Racecourse.
