A MAN from Ryde has been charged with threatening a person with an offensive weapon, affray, and assault by beating after an altercation in Cowes last night (Wednesday). 


Police were called to Queens Road, Cowes, at 6.16pm, after reports of an altercation between two men.

As a result of the incident, Simon Eatwell, 50, of Thornton Manor Drive, Ryde, was arrested and charged with affray, assault by beating, and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place. 

He has been bailed to appear at Newport Magistrates' Court on December 30.
