Agrevo 3 Elliot Star 5

Herts County Premier Division

Elliot Star enjoyed an away day to the pastural surroundings of Berkhamstead where they beat Agrevo 5-3.

The match started in style as Star scored after two minutes. Robbie Theophile crossed the ball and Kevin Cooper hit it into the corner of the net.

Ten minutes later the Agrevo number eight made a brave run on the right, holding off two challenges to thump home the equaliser.

Star's Danny Plumb put through some good balls for the forwards to latch onto, and Kevin Cooper was unlucky when all he needed was a touch to make the most of one of them.

Gavin Day put a cross in which Cooper missed and the keeper was unable to hold the ball, allowing Matt Jones to slot it away for Star to go 2-1 up in the 30th minute.

Agrevo had a shot hit the bar then Steve Buss missed when he should have scored. Though Andy Kalouis scooped a shot off the line, keeping Star in the game.

Danny Plumb took a free kick from 30 yards out and Mick Fenton's header went just wide of the mark.

Star went 3-1 up when Plumb headed out and Theophile slipped it to Cooper, who went on a 30-yard run chased by the Agrevo defence which finished with him putting the ball under the Agrevo keeper.

Cooper put Jones in just before half time and brought a good save off Agrevo's keeper. Staying with keepers, Star's Billy Davis had a great 90 minutes.

Within three minutes of the second half opening, Cooper scored his hat-trick goal after Theophile had put in a long cross bringing the score to 4-1 to Star.

But a minute later Agrevo got back into the game with their second goal. Then five minutes after Agrevo's number 11 scored with a header to make the scoreline read 4-3.

Star's manager Brian Renphrey came on for the injured James O'Connell and his sturdy presence gave Star an air of calm authority. He also helped to set up Star's fifth goal, this time from Jones, making the final score 5-3.

STAR: Davis, Love, Kaoulis, Day, O'Connell (Renphrey 60mins), Plumb, Buss, Theophile, Cooper, Jones, Fenton.
