With over 60 men and lady bowlers from the Century taking part, the opening of the outdoor season on Sunday resulted in an emphatic victory for Dai Conniff and his president's team against the combined captains.

With a four-rink victory away to Woodcock Park and progress in the London and Southern Counties Cup competition, following a win at Muswell Hill, the season has got off to a good start for the Wembley-based club.

Bowls enthusiasts have much to look forward to at Logan Road this summer, with Middlesex playing 10 men's and ladies' fixtures, including two Middleton Cup County Championship matches.

On Sunday, August 9, the county competition finals are being staged, always regarded as the highlight of the bowls summer within the county.

The six-rink indoor centre at the Century will reamin open throughout the summer for bowlers to use at a specially reduced fee.

Former Chelsea and Eire international footballer John Dempsey regularly brings along a group of disabled young people to the centre for a game of bowls as guests of Century.
