Coney quits

FOOTBALL: Carshalton Athletic captain Dean Coney has announced his retirement. Dean has been struggling with injuries and a recent leg injury suffered in the workplace forced his decision. The former Fulham star is still to decide whether he will carry on in the game in some capacity.

Foley on form

RUNNING: Sutton runner Ray Foley finished third in the annual Box Hill Fell Race. The seven and a half mile course had become slippery from overnight rain but did not deter winner, Chris Beecham from finishing in a speedy 49.21. Ray Foley was just over a minute behind him clocking up a time of 50.49.

Cheam double

HOCKEY: Cheam Women's Hockey first XI dominated the usually close fixture against Guildford at home - running out impressive

5-0 winners. The second XI played a good defensive game against Camberley with Pam Laidman scoring the only goal for Cheam from open play.

Run for charity

RUNNING: Hundreds of fun runners are expected to turn out for a twelve hour charity run at Sutton Arena in April. Open to teams of six of less, the marathon slog on Saturday, April 4, will raise funds for the Mayor's chosen charity, volunteers from Sutton's Bereavement Services.

Thrashed

RUGBY: Old Walcountians suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Old Alleynians on Saturday. Although the first half was evenly matched, the score-line finished 40-3 with the home side hitting top gear. But there were signs that OW would avoid relegation this year.
