Four Enfield police officers have been recommended for bravery awards after persuading a man not to take his own life.
Police were called to Chase Farm Hospital, The Ridgeway, Enfield, on October 7 where a man was threatening to throw himself off the multi-storey car park.
PC Mark Nicholson went up to reassure the man while PC Kevin Holmes spoke to hospital staff to obtain more information on the man, who, it transpired, was a patient from the mental health unit at the hospital.
PC Nicholson and PC Dick Gladman remained on the roof and tried to calm the man, who was obviously agitated. They handed him a coat and at this point the man asked to speak to a female officer.
Then PC Sue Evans attended the scene and the man agreed to come down after a discussion with the officers. The four are to be awarded a local level commendation after their heroics
