A CRUISE ship crew member who leapt overboard a vessel off the Isle of Wight on Tuesday has been named.
Solent Coastguard helicopters and Bembridge RNLI were among those involved in the search after crew on the MSC Opera raised the alarm at about 5.30am.
The search was stood down after six hours, however the missing man has not been found.
Cruise company MSC Cruises said the missing crewman was 33-year-old bar man Elroy Fernandes, an Indian national.
CCTV showed Mr Fernandes, who had worked for the company since 2007, jump overboard about 17 miles south east of the Isle of Wight.
A spokeswoman said: "The company’s thoughts and sympathy are with his family, friends, and colleagues."
