REPORTS of an overturned kayak off the Isle of Wight led to a widespread search effort by lifeboats and coastguards this afternoon (Tuesday).
Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat and Ventnor Coastguard were all involved in the search, sparked by a report of an overturned kayak near St Catherine’s Point.
The search began at around 2.20pm but was stood down after an hour when nothing was found.
