PLANS for a park-and-ride car park in a field outside Crockenhill will not be going ahead, following a Sevenoaks District Council decision.
District council planning officers refused the application for a 250-space park-and-ride on a field along Goldsell Road, after considering the 297 objections made by nearby residents.
Despite the field being on green-belt land, a park-and-ride car park might have been allowed according to recent government legislation.
But the planning officers did not agree the application was for a conventional park-and-ride because the "ride" was a train journey to London, rather than a bus journey into nearby Swanley's town centre.
They said they could not allow the plan to go ahead because of the area's green belt status.
They added the car park would increase traffic to the area, causing environmental and road safety hazards.
Ray Mullins, who submitted the application has no plans to appeal the decision.
