A CAR fire was tackled last night (Tuesday) - by Isle of Wight paramedics rather than firefighters.
The fire, at the Whippingham junction of the Racecourse Roundabout, was put out by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with a fire extinguisher at 7.38pm.
One fire engine from Newport was sent to the scene - after the fire was reported at 7:34pm - but the fire had already been extinguished.
There were no reported injuries.
