PARKING fines in Bromley are set to rocket by up to five times in a bid to plough more cash into transport projects.
From April 1, the most expensive penalty charge will increase to £100 from £20.
The decision on the hike was taken by Association of London Government's transport and environment committee and affects all London boroughs.
Bromley Council's head of parking Gerry Broomfield said: "We know some motorists are cynical about the money raised from parking fines but, legally, it has to be spent on transport improvements."
Fines are banded with the most expensive given for parking on yellow lines in the town centre.
