MORE than £4million was netted by the Isle of Wight Council in parking charges and fines during the last financial year, it has been revealed.

Ticket machines made more than £2.3million for the authority, parking permits around £980,000 and penalty charge notices , or fines, around £750,000.

The net income after expenditure, including staff and administrative costs, was almost £2.5million, around £40,000 of which was from fines.

A review of parking income and permits will be debated by the cabinet in September.
