Party time for carnival company

MEMBERS of the Isle of Wight’s New Carnival Company are celebrating after they won nearly £230,000 of funding over the next three years from Arts Council England.

The new grant, which runs between 2015 to 2018, will contribute to the pioneering company’s core costs and its annual programme of arts development and participation work in specialised and hard to reach communities across the south of England.

The grant will also go towards supporting the company’s two flagship outdoor events, the recent Mardi Gras in Ryde and a new illuminated event currently in development called Dark Nights at Shanklin which the company aims to stage every last Saturday in October.

Frankie Goldspink, the company’s participation and learning manager, said they were very excited and relieved to have obtained the grant.

For the record, we spent two long weeks working on this application and the grant is to support our Carnival Arts Development work across the Island and beyond. Chris, The NCC

Hello Mike I don't know the answer to that, I went to a few meetings about Ventnor and everytime they (the committee ) said they never have any Grants or funding , it all goes to Ryde and we have to fund raise , but happy for Ryde , I expect one day it will just be one big Carnival for the Island not a bad idea really make it a 3 day event .

What was said Lulu when Ventnor were turned down for a grant payout? What was the reason for being turned down?
