MEMBERS of the Isle of Wight’s New Carnival Company are celebrating after they won nearly £230,000 of funding over the next three years from Arts Council England.
The new grant, which runs between 2015 to 2018, will contribute to the pioneering company’s core costs and its annual programme of arts development and participation work in specialised and hard to reach communities across the south of England.
The grant will also go towards supporting the company’s two flagship outdoor events, the recent Mardi Gras in Ryde and a new illuminated event currently in development called Dark Nights at Shanklin which the company aims to stage every last Saturday in October.
Frankie Goldspink, the company’s participation and learning manager, said they were very excited and relieved to have obtained the grant.
