A BIRTHDAY party with a difference has raised hundreds of pounds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Pauline Williams, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, encouraged friends to wear a wig and make a donation to the charity, which raised more than £320.

The event was supported by Envy Hair and Beauty, in Carisbrooke.

Pauline, 38, of Hewitt Crescent, thanked everyone for their support, including The Hog’s Head, Newport, the venue for the party, and House of Legends, where the group held collections.

Pauline said: "I was diagnosed with breast cancer after I found a lump.

"I’ve had two operations and chemotherapy and will need to take medication but I am clear. I wanted to do something to help others."
