Passports launched for the Isle of Wight

The new Visit Isle of Wight Time Travellers passports.

VISITORS to the Isle of Wight this summer will be told 'don't forget your passport' as part of a new tourism campaign.

Visit Isle of Wight has launched special Time Travellers Passports to help people make the most of their time on the Isle of Wight.

The idea fits in with this summer's marketing campaign, which features a tie-in with the Hollywood blockbuster film Transformers: Age of Exctinction, with the Transformers logo featuring on the front of the passports.

People can create their own 'time trails' with themes such as dinosaurs, ancient Romans, Tudors and Stuarts, the Victorians, modern and a Transformers-inspired Dinobot hunt.

There are 15 locations around the Island to collect passport stamps, which enters collectors into a competition to win a holiday to Los Angeles and a stay at the Royal Hotel in Ventnor.

The official Visit Isle of Wight App has also been updated with the latest information about what to do and where to stay on the Isle of Wight.

You can collect a passport from any of the Island's Tourist Information Points, including the Isle of Wight County Press Shop, Pyle Street, Newport.

Great news for the tourism. However, it doesn't help locals :(

Indeed "Barry" it does! How many people knew that the island was one of the locations being considered before Disneyland Paris was built? That would have been the best attraction and put the place on the tourist map.

I always laugh at people who say things such as "give islanders passports" and the people who slag off the mainland too! Without the mainland islanders would starve, run out of fuel, have no gas, electricity or anything else that islanders buy and use!

The Island needs a water park, a decent one. Open all year for visitors and more importantly residents. It would be so popular I can guarantee it.

What a load of rubbish these so called passports are and who is the idiot that designed them! How about mortgages for ferry tickets next? You can produce as many magazines/gimmicks as you like but you will never replace person to person tourist information and how about actually having some decent attractions to visit first?

I dont know about any film logo, to me the front of that looks like it has been issued by some old eastern bloc country! If you are going to publicise the IOW with a passport, use the IOW logo on the front!

I wonder how much of the "FREE" publicity which is about they use.
