Safety zones have been established outside five of the borough's primary schools. Archdeacon Cambridge was highlighted as a priority because it is on a main road.
Residents are now being consulted on proposals to introduce a zebra crossing and pedestrian guard railing outside the school and to widen the pavements on both sides of the road to create a safe place for parents and pupils to gather.
Richmond Council's transport sub committee will consider comments on the scheme at its meeting on June 27.
If the safety zone is agreed work could start in the summer holidays.
