Pedestrian injured outside school

POLICE were this evening (Tuesday) called to an incident involving a pedestrian and a car outside Broadlea Primary School in Lake.

Isle of Wight officers were called to the scene at 5.20 pm by ambulance crews.

A pedestrian, believed to be a woman aged 37, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St Mary's Hospital by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The police closed a section of Newport Road, whilst the owner of the red Volkswagen Golf involved arranged for the car to be privately recovered.

The road has since been reopened.
