Obviously most people are not really concerned about the dirt that surround them. Some 120 letters went out to encourage residents to help clean up the Old Putting Green area. Some said they would come but in the end a mere 14 turned up.
I realise the task was not pleasant but a larger number of people in the right spirit could have had a good laugh and a good nosh. The weather was, of course, pretty appalling but most people do not object to walk, play golf, swim and pursue other activities in any weather.
So where was the community spirit that evening? Organisers spent a lot of time (and money) setting up the event.
