A SURPRISE song and dance performance by Isle of Wight College students brought Newport to life yesterday (Tuesday).
A group of 20 performing arts students created a flash mob and performed Sweet Child of Mine by Guns 'N' Roses and danced to LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It in front of unsuspecting crowds in Sts Thomas’ Square and St James’ Square.
Milly Jolliff, 16, Jasmine Cairns, 18, and Holly Carter, 17, said the performance had gone "really well" and was a fun experience for all involved.
They said: "We are pleased that there was quite a good turnout in town. We chose to perform on market day because we wanted a lot of people to see us.
"Our message to the crowd was to show how much the Isle of Wight College has done for us. We all love the performing arts course and aimed to express our enthusiasm towards it."
Other Level 3 students have created different projects and will be performing them over the next couple of weeks at Wroxall Primary School, Isle of Wight College careers fair and Beaulieu House.
