A PETITION calling for the removal of AET as Sandown Bay Academy sponsors has slammed its management of the school.
The national academy chain, which also runs Ryde Academy, has come under fire for plunging the school into crisis.
The petition follows repeated job cuts and claims made by staff of 'out of control' students, coupled with the resignation of principal Claire Charlemagne and this week's sacking of the governing body.
Started two days ago by Anthony Freelove, the change.org petition states: "We, the undersigned, declare we have no confidence in Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) as sponsor of Sandown Bay Academy, and, after an almost six year period of decline in both stability and pupil attainment, find it incomprehensible the DfE continues with their funding agreement in spite of repeated warnings from Ofsted.
"We demand the DfE immediately terminate AET's involvement.
"We also demand the DfE seek to urgently re-broker the school to prevent its ultimate demise and further squandering of public money.
"We utterly condemn and totally repudiate any attempt by AET to transfer culpability for the current parlous position of the school onto the former head, staff and former governors."
Eighty-seven people have signed it so far.
