TOTLAND Pier Cafe has finally re-opened after being closed for several years due to planning problems.
New owners are Michael and Gemma Barrett, from Godshill, who are taking on running a cafe for the first time.
Michael is an electrician and plumber by trade and the couple also run Castles 4 Rascals, a children’s entertainments company.
Michael said: “We were given this opportunity and jumped in with both feet. We have a year’s contract.
“But the pier is to be rebuilt and the cafe will be knocked down as part of the new structure so it may have the opportunity to extend the deal a bit longer.
“We will be open seven days a week, from 9am to 7pm, and that will include winter when we intend to install a log burner.”
Gemma added: “We opened on Sunday and had an amazing response from local people. We did really well and everyone was happy to see us open again. We hope it will be a boost for Totland.”
