Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Hayes.
HAMPSHIRE and Isle of Wight police and crime commissioner Simon Hayes is set to launch a four year police and crime plan next week.
He will unveil the plan for 2013 to 2017 at a meeting in Winchester on Thursday, before it is implemented on Monday, April 1.
The plan outlines Mr Hayes' vision and priorities for policing and community safety across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and was influenced by public consultation.
In a statement issued today (Friday) Mr Hayes said: "My vision is to make Hampshire and the Isle of Wight even safer by improving community safety, cutting crime and reducing re-offending.
"I believe that by inclusion, community co-operation and consultation, we can work together to deliver the right outcomes."

Despite being a metaphor, I bet that is the only time you will hear the Isle of Wights BNP leader Geoff saying "there aren't enough Indians here".

agree with you Mr.wright, the commonsense thing to do is to put more bobbies on the beat, not in the flashy cars, we already have far too many chiefs and not enough indians(red) jobs for the (common purpose) boys

That is odd, we have had a bit of "inclusion, community co-operation and consultation" but in our area nothing has changed.Perhaps if the money being wasted on this beueaucracy was used to put police where they belong, namely out on the streets crime and anti social behaviour could be reduced

The position of PCC is an absolute waste of time and tax payers money, which would have been better off spent on more Police officers.He will soon have a deputy, based on the Island, at the cost of approx £50K. Another waste of tax payers money...

Mrs James, At the risk of sounding a tad controversial, the lack of tangible evidence was the reason that was denied. No police force would do so on a 'hunch'. I doubt there will be any change to this.Of course I hope that they eventually find a body to get closure, but you have got to see it from their POV.

Well, he was hardly going to say "I don't want to tackle crime" was he?Mr Hayes will do jack to help crime, he will sit behind a desk at board meetings and get paid a fortune to tell the police to "continue doing what you already do"

I hope he remembers to tell the police to catch the bad guys or they might forget! What a pathetic waste of taxpayers money to have this man who is nothing more than yet another layer of bureaucracy which means less policeman on the beat!! When will common sense prevail!
