A CONTROVERSIAL proposal for a £350,000 grain drying plant on the Isle of Wight is due to come before the planning committee next Tuesday.
The plant at Isle of Wight Grain, Medina Wharf in Arctic Road, Cowes would include a drying tower, feed conveyor and elevator, aspirator and fan cyclone, chaff conveyor, biomass heater and an associated fuel feed hopper.
The maximum height would be just over 21 metres.
Northwood Parish Council has welcomed a more efficient plant, but has grave concerns about the biomass incinerator, because of fears its emissions could potentially lead to serious health risks for local residents and the public at large on both sides of the River Medina.
Letters of objection, about the increased traffic and noise, have also been sent.
The application is recommended for conditional permission.
