THE Earl Mountbatten Hospice has sent out 5,000 letters to people who have yet to send in their Walk the Wight sponsorship money.

Karen Eeles, community fundraiser, said there had been a flurry of response since letters started going out last week.

People can take their paying-in slips and sponsorship forms to Island branches of HSBC.

Karen said: "Make sure the person at the bank puts your walker number as a reference so we can identify which walkers have paid."

This year’s event has so far raised £275,000.
